SHPAVVER Vacuum Trimmer Review: Easy Trim, Easy Clean

Have you been struggling to keep yourself clean while trimming your beard? I know getting stray hair particles into the collars of your cloth can keep you uncomfortable for the next 24 hours.

But what could be a valid solution for that? Wearing a bib every time you maintain your facial hair does seem like an awful lot to ask.

SHPAVVER on the other hand has a different and more effective solution. It’s a vacuum beard trimmer that collects all of that stray the moment you trim it off of your face.

Let’s hop onto the journey of this SHPAVVER trimmer review for a more in-depth learning of what it can produce and how your life is going to be much easier once you possess it!

“SHPAVVER vacuum beard trimmer is a cordless, waterproof and easy to recharge grooming tool that collects your stray hair with 95% efficiency. The vacuum system sucks in the hair particles upon trimming using the stainless steel blade and it’s indeed a cost-effective solution for many!”

Unboxing SHPAVVER Vacuum Trimmer

The packaging of the SHPAVVER trimmer is quite simple yet effective. It’s robust and can successfully protect the inner components during delivery and traveling.

You’ll have to slide out the entire component inside the box. There, you’ll locate a plastic crevice holding the trimmer on the right and the entire crevice serves as a top cover.

Once you remove the top part, another smaller, bottom crevice plays host to the charging cable, a separate guide comb and a cleaning brush.

Overall, I like this compact approach to this tool and unboxing as well as using the box as a storage solution have been a very pleasant experience for me.

What’s Inside the Box: SHPAVVER Vacuum Beard Trimmer, Two Guide Combs, One Cleaning Brush, One USB Type-C Cable, User Manual.

SHPAVVER Vacuum Trimmer: Standout Features

Let’s take a look at the features that stand out from the rest to inform you the reasons SHPAVVER is a strong grooming candidate for consumers across the globe!

Green Aesthetics

Being a vacuum beard trimmer, SHPAVVER managed to keep the aesthetics to a very compact size, considering other devices of such caliber.

SHPAVVER Vacuum Trimmer Housing 1

There are two colors that take precedence in the housing design – the stray chamber in a punchy green with the rest of the handle draped in a dark shade of moss green.

I believe the color could radiate a cheap feeling to some consumers but it’s still good enough in my opinion to keep the tool visible. Under bright light, the aesthetics do come out alive!

Plastic Grip

SHPAVVER hasn’t invested much into the handle and therefore prevented themselves from adding rubberized grip portions.

SHPAVVER Vacuum Trimmer Grip

That’s why most of the grip level relies on the handle shape along with the plastic textures and crevices smartly crafted by the brand.

My experience has been actually good – no hint of slipping at any given condition – be that a dry trim or beard grooming over a damp facial hair body.

Above Average Build Quality

While the SHPAVVER trimmer looks like a cheap beard trimmer that’s been imported from China, the build quality has been surprisingly good!

The handle is not prone to falling off, the hinges firmly work, blade remains sharp for a long time and the motor never showed signs of slowing down.

Also, I’ve fully rinsed it under running water and trimmed my beard inside the shower. In both cases, the handle and its inner components remained fully leakage-proof!

Light Weight

With two motors working together – one for trimming and the other for vacuum – the SHPAVVER trimmer housing is surprisingly lightweight at 7.8 ounces.

SHPAVVER Vacuum Trimmer Weight

It’s been straightforward for me to maneuver it around my face, no fatigue on the arm or the fingers experienced and thus, men with feeble hands will most certainly benefit from this cordless tool.

Additionally, the weight class allows you to bring this vacuum trimmer with you while traveling, and the travel lock feature does enhance portability and safety!

Sharp, Almost Zero-Gap Blades

You’ll receive the SHPAVVER vacuum trimmer with one of the guide combs on. Once you remove the comb, you’ll find the blades almost hiding inside the handle plastic.

SHPAVVER Vacuum Trimmer Blades 1

These blades are almost zero-gapped. While it’s going to be difficult to craft outlines like a T-Blade, your trimming results will be surprisingly close!

Since the blade material is stainless steel, the threat of burning sensation or ingrown hair persists. That’s why I recommend keeping the guard on for your skin’s protection.

The blade is sharp enough for almost every facial hair texture and density without causing tugs or pulls. Also, long beard grooming is certainly recommended based on its performance!

2-Speed Motor

If you didn’t know already, the SHPAVVER trimmer has two power modes built into the system. Both can be engaged using the power button, once activates low power and pressing again goes for high power.

Personally, I didn’t find the low power mode to be that efficient. I’ve spent most of my grooming duration with this tool at mode 2. Then again, I have a coarse beard. Others with lighter, finer beards might experience mode 1 differently.

Another thing you should know is that these modes are applicable to the vacuum system as well, and mode 2 works overall the best if you want most of the stray to be captured.

This motor unit is stall-proof, meaning altering between power modes won’t cause any issue. If you have low battery, the motor will either fully shut down or run very slowly, nothing in-between.

Sufficient Stray Hair Chamber

The stray hair chamber in the SHPAVVER vacuum trimmer isn’t as sizable as the Remington Corded Vacuum Trimmer.

SHPAVVER Vacuum Trimmer Hair Chamber

I’d say the capacity is good enough for stubble grooming and you won’t have to clean it out in the middle of the session.

However, you might have to empty the chamber for longer beards as it can get clogged and compromise your efficiency.

If SHPAVVER trimmer had a filter inside the chamber, cleaning would’ve been much easier. But there’s none and it makes cleaning quite challenging.

Built-in Zoom Wheel

For convenience and swift alteration of your guide comb length, there’s a built-in zook wheel on the SHPAVVER trimmer handle.

SHPAVVER Vacuum Trimmer Zoom Wheel

You’ll notice that there are two layers of numbers on the wheel. These are corresponding to each of the guide combs included inside the package.

One guide comb trims between 1-10 mm, the other between 11-20 mm. You can attach the particular comb and adjust the length accordingly to simply rotate the wheel for your preferred length.

Sufficient Battery Life

Despite running two motors simultaneously, the battery department in the SHPAVVER vacuum trimmer is indeed sufficient!

SHPAVVER Vacuum Trimmer USB Port

It has been difficult to figure out a way to disclose the battery life, but let me just try. If you relentlessly use the motor mode 1 for grooming, your battery will last for around 90 minutes.

On the other hand, you’ll get battery life of around 60 minutes for mode 2. If you mix these two modes up, your battery life will be somewhere in-between.

Another bonus that enhances its portability is the USB Type-C port for charging. While the brick is not included inside the box, you can easily use your phone’s brick or powerbank to recharge it!

IPX6 Waterproof with LCD Display

For your convenience, SHPAVVER has achieved an IPX6 waterproof rating for their vacuum trimmer, meaning it can be cleaned using water.

SHPAVVER Vacuum Trimmer LCD Display

That’s a big relief when it comes to cleaning the stray hair chamber. It would otherwise be a nightmare if I had to manually brush everything out.

Right now, I can simply hold the chamber under the tap to clean things out easily. Trimming a damp beard is an option but it’s not advisable due to the compromised vacuum efficiency.

There’s an LCD display on the handle that reads the battery life in numeric form, indicating travel lock and low battery warning. It’s barely visible under bright light, so get ready to squint your eyes.

What I Like

  • 95% efficient vacuum system ready grab all the stray
  • 2 motor modes to fit your requirement
  • IPX6 waterproof allows you to wash the chamber

What Could be Better

  • No hair filter inside the chamber
  • LCD display brightness could improve

My Experience with SHPAVVER Vacuum Trimmer

Time for me to describe my experience of using the SHPAVVER vacuum beard trimmer and the way I feel about this tool after using it for months!

Trimming Closeness

I’m not very pleased with how close the SHPAVVER trimmer goes even without the guard on. It’s not going to give you a 5 o’clock shadow, rather something slightly longer.

SHPAVVER Vacuum Trimmer Blades 2

I had better expectations for a stainless steel blade that’s close to a zero-overlap. And when I trim with the shortest guard on, it feels like a little longer than 1 mm in length.

Pressing the blade hard against the skin does give you a slightly closer result but the way this tool is designed, you’re going to get hampered due to the plastic edges of the handle.

Vacuum Effectiveness

It’s not mathematically possible to measure how much the vacuum efficiency is and for a baseline, I have to take SHPAVVER’s word for it.

SHPAVVER Vacuum Trimmer Housing 3

However, in real life conditions, I did see a drastic change in the amount of stray hair flying around and leaving me distressed.

Only a handful of hair particles get to leave the sucktion of the vacuum behind and that is actually something! I get out of a grooming session almost free of strays and I think this technology is heavily underrated!

Trimming Speed

Speed at which SHPAVVER trims is actually commendable. I was able to complete full beard grooming routines under 5 minutes, although these consisted mostly of bulk removal.

SHPAVVER Vacuum Trimmer Blades 3

I reckon this is what the trimmer excels at. For the motor mode 1, this duration will get cranked up and even at times causes pulls.

Since I don’t have to interchange between different guide combs as the zoom wheel takes care of that for me, the overall duration saw significant improvement over other beard trimmers.

Comfort on Skin

Bringing the debate back to skin comfort, SHPAVVER is comforting when you have one of the two guards on.

SHPAVVER Vacuum Trimmer on Skin

With direct skin to blade contact, you may experience slight irritation or redness, although the brand has done everything in their power to make the blades safe for operation.

I feel that beard trimmings are the most comfortable, then ranks mustache trimming and the least of my favorite with this tool is to trim anything beneath the jawline.

Wet/Travel Grooming

Because of the size, weight and features, SHPAVVER has the potential to become your constant travel companion.

Since you can literally use it anywhere you want without the fear of spilled hair, tons of doors open up for you when you’re away from home.

With the IPX6 rating however, it feels more useful for washing the device rather than trimming on a damp beard.

I’ve had quite an unpleasant encounter over wet beard trimming as vacuum failing to work, chamber clogging up and overall untrimmed patches, so I’ll recommend you not to venture down that path.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Like I mentioned earlier, it’s better to clean out the SHPAVVER beard trimmer under running water, utilizing the waterproof feature.

SHPAVVER Vacuum Trimmer Vacuum Cover Removed

Make sure to keep your power cord fully detached while going for such a cleaning. You first have to remove the lid that covers the stray hair chamber.

Then, let the tap run and hold the device vertically, blade side on top. Water will rinse down and wash out the stray. Secondarily, rinse the chamber directly once more.

I don’t think SHPAVVER trimmer requires lubrication, but I’d still advise you to at least apply a couple of drops once every week for better efficiency.

How I Tested the SHPAVVER Vacuum Trimmer?

For testing, I pushed SHPAVVER trimmer’s buttons to its absolute limit and sought out its performance over a very long and coarsest of beards.

Also, tried out stubble trimming on various occasions with and without the guards on. I tested battery life for both motor modes to see how it stacks up.

And most importantly, I wore a white bib and tested the efficiency of the vacuum system. This gave me enough information regarding how much stray hair is being spilled by the trimmer.

What I Like

  • The vacuum is very efficient and works as promised
  • Regular grooming is fast and saves a lot of time
  • Cleaning feels easy with waterproof feature

What Could be Better

  • Close trims are not very close

Who is the SHPAVVER Vacuum Trimmer For?

I wouldn’t call SHPAVVER trimmer an affordable beard trimmer, still it weighs in at a slightly lower cost than a lot of other premium tools.

One consumer group that will find SHPAVVER trimmer to be most useful is the one that is tired of cleaning up after a grooming session.

With the vacuum technology, this part seems like a blessing and it literally lets you groom your beard or mustache at any location like an airport toilet or while driving your car.

That’s why the second group of potential consumers are frequent travelers. Also, it’s backed by a travel lock, recharging can be done through a Type-C port – everything you need while you’re away from home!

SHPAVVER vs NanoGroom Vacuum Trimmer Side-by-Side Analysis

SHPAVVER vs NanoGroom Vacuum Trimmer

In the current market, many brands are trying to replicate the success of SHPAVVER vacuum trimmer by creating identical yet cheaper alternatives.

One such instance is the NanoGroom vacuum trimmer, which I had initially mistaken for another color variant of SHPAVVER.

I had ordered one out of curiosity and after using that, I’ve come to the conclusion that there are disparities in performance despite the shared look. Let me stress on that!

Similarities: The only thing that’s similar between the two is the design principle. Both are crafted with plastic, contain a zoom wheel and even the guide combs seem identical.

Weight class is very close with little to distinguish between them and the matching height is 7.5 inches for both the tools.

Also, the vacuum system works for these two beard trimmers. There’s little to no mess after trimming and that’s a solid point scored for both. And that’s about it for similarity.

Differences: Where do I even begin with the variances. First of all, NanoGroom blades are not as sharp as SHPAVVER despite being made with stainless steel. I experienced tons of unshaved patches, even more so with the guard on.

Secondly, the grip level seems to be lacking in the NanoGroom tool and those who have sweaty palms might see it slipping out every now and then.

Third, the overall build quality for the NanoGroom feels much cheaper and it’s not going to be a durable trimmer, that much I can tell already.

The hinges or joints seem clunky, the zoom wheel doesn’t feel smooth and even the mode 2 for the motor feels less powerful in contrast.

Only thing NanoGroom has outperformed SHPAVVER in is the LCD screen – it’s more vibrant and visible, so that’s one small point going in favor of NanoGroom.

Verdict: I’d say NanoGroom is simply a cheap knockoff for SHPAVVER. Yes, it’s fine for the most basic grooming activities and the vacuum works perfectly. Anything more than this, NanoGroom can’t handle it.

SHPAVVER on the other hand is a proven capable device that has the ability to groom different gradients of beards and mustaches. Yes, not the finest margin for price to performance, but looking at how clean I remain after grooming, I’m ready to concede that.

FAQ

Before we conclude our discussion, I’ll answer some frequently asked questions to enhance your knowledge on this tidy beard trimmer.

Q: Does SHPAVVER support corded use?

Ans: Apparently, yes. SHPAVVER supports corded use although I don’t personally recommend it. Especially, given the fact that this tool is waterproof, many consumers might mistakenly take it near water while still connected to power, and it’s a recipe for accidental hazard. Since this trimmer has a long battery life, I’ll urge you to limit its usage to cordless only.

Q: What’s the battery inside SHPAVVER vacuum trimmer?

Ans: SHPAVVER vacuum trimmer employs a 1,400 mAh lithium-ion battery. This unit is responsible for both of the motors – one that drives the blades and the other powering the vacuum.

Q: Is there a warranty covering the SHPAVVER trimmer?

Ans: From where I purchased, there was no official warranty covering the SHPAVVER beard trimmer. Although, I was offered protection plans for different durations with an extra fee. Check with your vendor for warranty-related information as it varies.

Verdict

This SHPAVVER vacuum beard trimmer review has explored every possible angle and important aspects regarding this device.

I’ve not only praised the tool for its effective vacuum system, easy to adjust zoom wheel and compact design for traveling, there have been things I didn’t like.

For instance, I feel the price point is slightly higher than it should’ve been. Also, the blade is so deep inside the handle cover that it often compromises trimming operation.

That said, SHPAVVER is unique in the sense that very few vacuum beard trimmers are able to come close to its performance, and that’s one of the major reasons behind my recommendation!

Score

Length Adjustment 4.8
Vacuum Efficiency 4.9
