Unboxing the Olov Trimmer
Olov trimmers package mimics the colorization of the trimmer’s housing – black overall with a shiny golden accent.
After pulling the tray that holds everything out of the package, it did boost my mood to see such a nicely organized set!
The trimmer is wrapped with a polythene and docked in its crevice, two solid comb guards lying together right above the nose trimmer head and the charging dock.
After pulling out the firmly placed trimmer, I located the charging cable underneath. No adapter though, you’ll have to make other arrangements in this department.
What’s Inside the Box: Olov Trimmer, 2 Adjustable Comb Guards (3/6mm, 9/12mm), Replaceable Nose Trimmer Head, USB Charging Cable, Charging Dock, Cleaning Brush.

Luxurious Design
Olov Electric Groin Trimmer certainly has my attention not only because of its performance, but also for the suave style in its looks department! I’ll break down the housing for your convenience in this section!
What I Like
- Ergonomic housing like Manscaped & Meridian
- Tiny & easy to hold on to
- Appealing colors
What I Don’t Like
- Wet grip is not great
Captivating Aesthetics
Olov Trimmer vs Lawn Mower 3.0
Olov trimmer comes in four striking colors that are uniquely picked by the brand. Out of these four, I picked the black housing unit because it has appealed to me the most over the rest!
The design may seem similar to the Manscaped Lawn Mower 3.0 device due to the size, color and feel of it.
But Olov has gone the distance to make the trimmer more intriguing with a golden accent around the neck and at the power button.
These golden outlines surface over the matte black housing covered with ergonomic materials.
In short, the housing design will definitely make your friends ask questions about the trimmer as though it’s a rare collectible item!
Dry Grip – Great! Wet Grip, not so Great
Grip levels are usually ensured by five things – how good the ergonomic paddings are, the contours of the housing, shape of the handle, weight of the trimmer and the intensity of motor vibration.
Olov trimmer does really well in the last four departments but where it leaves begging for more is in the ergonomic padding or texture section.
Since the grip material is similar to the ones of Meridian trimmer, you’d expect the trimmer to feel good in hands and there would be a certain amount of trust for taking it near your precious parts.
It retains grip for most parts in dry conditions, but wet is where the problem begins. Since the trimmer is budget-end, the ergonomics aren’t the best in the market.
Once the trimmer is wet, I sensed it shows a tendency to slip out of grip and that’s certainly not what I desire from my regular nut trimmer.
So it’s a heads up for all the wet trim lovers – Olov is meant for dry shaving, so keep that in your consideration before making the purchase.
Acceptable Durability
From my assessment, the cheap yet good enough housing can last you for years should you take care of it well enough and handle it with a certain degree of caution.
Don’t overstress it – like leaving it turned on till the battery drains out or downpouring water for prolonged duration as these can damage this beautiful device.
I think the durability level can be compared with the Manspot trimmer – something that can perform in the similar manner as Olov but contains a wider blade system.
Average Build Quality
I’d urge you not to expect too much out of a budget-end trimmer and especially keep that in mind when you consider its durability.
What I Like
- Built with cheap but durable material
- Ceramic blades will last
- Blade locking mechanism feels solid
What I Don’t Like
- Power button isn’t tactile
I’m not suggesting that the Olov trimmer is prone to breakage or highly fragile, no. It has the sturdiness to withstand regular usage, minor drops or sustaining over the course of time.
But when I place it against the more expensive body or butt trimmers like Manscaped or Meridian, it’d be unfair to call the Olov a well-built trimmer.
I’m usually worried about the charging ports, clicking and unclicking of the blades or other accessories as well as the power buttons in the budget-end body hair trimmers.
It was a relief to find out that the clicking mechanism hasn’t been compromised in order to cut corners in the expense department and you can attach or remove the blades or nose trimmer as much as you want to.
The accessories too are of good quality and should last you as long as this trimmer does.
My only complaint, considering the price tag, is the power button. It doesn’t feel tactile at all, you’ll have to dip your fingers in to set it on or off and at times I don’t even realize that the press has been registered.
This could have been better in this trimmer but I have similar accusations against Meridian trimmer as well – so it’s not an uncommon phenomena for such devices.
Necessary Features Included
Don’t get disheartened by my certain criticisms on the Olov trimmer because those haven’t been the major things to keep your mind anchored at. There are tons of great aspects to this trimmer, especially the ones that are expected out of a quality ball trimmer!
What I Like
- Perfect budget body trimmer
- Contains necessary accessories
- Comes with a charging dock
What I Don’t Like
- Not the best for wet shaves
Ceramic Blades Well-suited for Body Grooming
Olov Trimmer Blade vs Lawn Mower 4.0 Blade
If this trimmer hadn’t been paired up with a set of ceramic blades, I wouldn’t even consider purchasing it, testing it out on myself as it’s indeed a risky business to trim your nuts using naked blades.
For most parts, it did a good enough job but I wouldn’t say the blades are the safest ones out in the market.
Olov trimmer has however exceeded my expectations during body grooming, not leaving behind a trail of red patches or triggered any irritation even without the comb guards on.
This is to say the least, the quality that won my heart over. Because I’ve used numerous body grooming trimmers in my lifetime and very few of them allowed me to leave the toilet unscarred.
These blades are durable, almost as much as the Lawn Mower 4.0 blades. A reason behind such durability is the protective guard teeth made of titanium, saving the ceramic blades from external damage.
Considering the gap in price with Lawn Mower 4.0, you can understand how big of a compliment that is for Olov!
Sufficient Motor Power
Olov Trimmer vs Meridian vs Manscaped
You might find it repetitive from my writings about grooming devices that sufficient motor power is of absolute necessity to make the blade system work.
No matter how good the blades are, a fragile or underperforming motor can cause you pain and jeopardize your experience.
Olov’s motor isn’t the most powerful one out of the body grooming trimmers I’ve tested, but it’s good enough to support the ceramic blades at every part of your body.
Mind you, if you’re dealing with highly dense and coarse bush, it’d be wiser to dampen the hair because you may find the motor to be dragging in that particular context.
Ideal Maneuverability
I’m sticking to the dry mode of maneuverability this time round because you already know how I feel about this trimmer in wet conditions.
In the dry conditions however, Olov trimmer feels great to move around any part of my body! The slight bevel does help out in this regard as it offers dynamic gripping techniques to reach difficult areas with ease.
Apart from the ergonomics, I’d have to give credit to the weight and size of the trimmer. It never feels tiring and long, exhausting trimming jobs feel less hectic due to the maneuverability.
I was particularly pleased with my back and butt shaving as I could hold it over my shoulder using only two of my fingers to get all the hair out nicely.
No Additional Accessories Needed
This Olov trimmer comes with every necessary accessory inside the package and you wouldn’t need anything extra to carry out every sort of body grooming duties.
Out of the 5 accessories, the two comb guards are adjustable so you’ll get four cutting lengths out of them (I only use the shortest guard for my use).
The nose trimmer head does come in handy. The troubled days of sticking a pair of scissors up your nose are gone and you get to save a few bucks on additional nose trimmers for the innovative step by Olov.
Olov Trimmer Charging Dock
The most shocking element in the Olov trimmer box has been the charging dock. Never have I expected one to be included for free with such an affordable device!
It utilizes the same USB cable you’d use to power up your trimmer directly. There’s no brick in the box, so feel free to utilize your phone’s adapter.
Waterproof
Let’s clear out the elephant in the room – is the waterproof quality in this Olov trimmer any good?
As you already know, it’s not an IPX rated trimmer and that’s comprehensible because of the aggressive price point.
But I’d say it’s not meant for using under constantly running water even though mine didn’t show signs of leakage.
It’s a precautionary step I’ve learned from my past mistakes and I’d urge you to follow in my footsteps if you want your Olov trimmer to see your precious balls for a few more days.
Also, should you listen to my suggestion to trim in the dry modes only since I don’t prefer its wet grip, then the waterproof nature shouldn’t bother you.
This feature can be fully utilized when you undo the blades and rinse out the stray hair. For that purpose, the waterproof nature gets my approval.
Ease of Use
Olov is a straightforward trimmer which you can use directly out of the box. Depending on which part of your body you’re shaving, you can attach or not attach a comb guard and head on to gliding.
It can be used while charging but that’s not a great idea for budget trimmers. Let’s face it – none of us wants an electronic device blowing up your balls in your washroom when you’re butt naked.
There’s no travel lock or complex technical features to confuse you. Just turn on the trimmer, use, turn off and that’s the only mode of operation you’ll need to follow.
My Experience with the Olov Trimmer
I haven’t been explicit about my experience with the Olov trimmer while explaining the features. Now allow me to share how it felt to use this trimmer from a user’s point of view!
What I Like
- Can trim nut close to zero with caution
- Complete body grooming trimmer
- No nicks or cuts
What I Don’t Like
- Battery life is limited
- Better zero gap body trimmers exist
How I Tested the Olov Trimmer
After the package arrived at my doorstep, I immediately unboxed the device and checked out how Olov had done the packing.
Then it was followed by an out of the box trim job on my hand with the naked blade to get a feel of it, because I’m not risking bloodshed from a new trimmer without finding out the basics of it.
Turn by turn, I put the Olov trimmer to test on my chest hair removal, back hair shaving, pubic region cleaning, butt shaving and of course, ball trimming.
I inspected the closeness of the shave, noted down how I felt while the blade was in contact with my skin and took a moment to feel the aftermath, whether there was any burning sensation.
Also, I used a stopwatch to check how long the trimmer lasted and highlighted that duration so that you know what the actual battery life is.
So, without further ado, let’s see the Olov trimmer as a body grooming unit under the light of honest confession!
Shaving Quality
Trust me, this is one of the two things that concern me when it comes to assessing great body grooming trimmers in the market.
In terms of closeness, it doesn’t get as close to a manual razor or trimmers like Meridian or Manscpaed because the blades aren’t zero gapped.
This was probably done intentionally to avoid any sort of accidental cuts at your sensitive man parts.
While it’s appreciated, what Olov has done to ensure the extension of our family tree, it does end up with a certain degree of lacking in the performance department.
In terms of body hair removal, you can feel the stubble with your fingertips. It’s not visible but still not as close to skin as I would’ve liked.
Comfort
The ceramic blades on the Olov trimmer are very comfortable and that’s one of the greater things I appreciate about this device.
Since I have fine body hair, I felt no tugs or pull while trimming and there’s yet to be any cuts at any given part.
Although, I should warn you that I took extreme precautions and exercised patience while trimming my man jewels with the naked blades.
At times it felt like I might have nicked myself, but there was no blood so that was a relief to find out.
It feels great on other parts even without the comb guards and there’s no rash or itchiness or scars on my sensitive body skin that’s usually very easily irritated.
I’d say, attach the smallest comb guard while trimming your testicles using the Olov trimmer and for the remaining body parts like chest or butt – you can do it directly with the blade.
Battery Life
My body grooming tasks don’t consume a lot of time, a maximum of 30 minutes is more than enough to get all of my body hair out, including the pubic hair region.
From that perception, a 40 minute runtime from Olov is sufficient in my opinion. The times I’ve put this trimmer to test, I made sure to charge it fully up to the brink.
Thus, it never died on me. But if you’re someone who doesn’t charge their trimmer regularly, then 40 minutes may become an issue for you.
You do get a warning from the LED light, but there’s a better fix to this trouble. Develop a practice of docking the trimmer in the charging station when you’re not using it.
This should always keep the trimmer fully charged and compensate for the shorter than ideal battery life.
Will it Last?
I’ve used the Olov trimmer for slightly over one month at this point. It didn’t feel like giving in to pressure, although I used it with delicate care.
The blades are really good and I can certainly say that these are made to last. Despite the cheap housing, it’s not the worst one in the market and certainly up to the mark for a body grooming trimmer.
Li-ion battery removes another concern for battery’s sustainability. I can’t surely say which motor unit Olov used here, but the fact that the power levels remained constant, it’s highly likely that the motor is a standard one.
So overall, I believe this Olov trimmer will last you for years if treated correctly, posing it as one of the most fanciable budget manscaping trimmers in 2024!
Who is the Olov Trimmer For?
Olov trimmers are basically your less expensive way of entering the world of body grooming and manscaping.
Whether you’re looking for an electronic alternative to manually shaving your balls and ending up with cuts, Olov fills in those shoes to take care in a delicate way.
With the nose trimmer head and the charging dock, I’d say Olov has indeed offered some extra courtesy for your consideration.
It’s a great first all-round body grooming kit, a budget manscaping trimmer for every need and great substitute trimmer for the more expensive ones you see on the market.
If any of these fit your expectations out of a body trimmer, then you most certainly know that it’s perfect for you!
How to Claim Warranty for Olov Trimmer?
Olov trimmer comes with a 1-year warranty and there’s a registration process that you must follow after purchasing any Olof device.
Head on to this product registration page on Olov’s website and fill out the form with the information they ask you for.
It must be done in order to be eligible for warranty, so there’s no walking around this procedure.
If you’ve purchased the trimmer from Amazon, follow their warranty and return policy, but I deem it’s better to do the product registration nonetheless to stay safe.

- Safe for nut shaving with a comb guard attached
- Doesn’t irritate sensitive bits of my skin without guards

Many of the grooming enthusiasts often ponder over one question: which one is better – Olov Trimmer or Meridian? It’s time we addressed that head to head as well!
Weight Variance
Despite being smaller in size, the Olov trimmer weighs a couple more ounces than the Meridian trimmer. While this gap in weight is negligible, seeing the difference in size, it tells you a lot.
Olov is a more compact trimmer and despite the housing being built with affordable materials, it’s indeed solid!
This also speaks of the motor power because good trimmer motors usually weigh slightly more than the cheaper and fidgety ones.
Also, such weight class means maximum maneuverability and in the end, this variance between Olov and Meridian is a tie – it’s solely a matter of user preference.
Difference in Trimming Quality
This is where the debate gets interesting. While the Olov trimmer trims quite close to the skin, it’s not zero gapped and doesn’t generate manual razor-like results.
Meridian trims are much closer than Olov and feel a bit more comfortable in my opinion.
I rarely had to attach comb guards on the Meridian trimmer but I can’t say the same for Olov, especially around my testicular region.
So yes, Meridian is indeed a better performer in the quality department. But then again, their prices are nowhere close so it’s somewhat expected to happen.
Ergonomic Feeling
Meridian is the most ergonomic body trimmer I’ve ever laid my hand on, all thanks to the matte housing material.
Brands like Olov or Manspot have tried to replicate that but always came a little way short.
Meridian’s wet grip is supreme and there’s never a shed of doubt that it might slip through my fingers mid-trim.
However, while Olov’s dry grip is still good enough, the wet grip isn’t up to the par and I’d never risk using it inside the shower.
So the ergonomic champion Meridian retains its reputation and Olov is appreciated for their efforts to compete so closely with Meridian despite being so affordable.
Battery Runtime Gap
Olov trails Meridian both in the battery department as well as the battery level LED indicators.
Meridian has a battery that keeps the trim going for over 60 minutes, at some times mine last even past 70 minutes but the motor felt slightly throttling for power at that point.
Olov battery life is somewhere around 40 minutes and the last few minutes before dying off doesn’t make the motor use its full potential.
Also, Olov has only one LED light in white that turns red nearing the end of battery life. There’s no way of knowing where you are in battery life until it’s too late.
Meridian has three LED lights, so the incremental indication should tell you where you are in battery life.
But Olov’s big comeback here is the charging station to mitigate the trimmer being drained of battery. Docking it in during idle hours can somewhat be a solution for many.
It’s still not enough to outrank Meridian though, and Olov – despite their valiant efforts – have to make room for Meridian as the victor in the battery department.
Overall Ease of Use
Meridian trimmer feels good to hold on to due to its unique shape that just fits perfectly in the palm of my hands.
Olov is easy to hold on to but lacks the confidence that Meridian generates because of its tiny size.
I’m not satisfied with the power buttons for either of these devices. Manscaped seems to have designed better and more responsive on/off buttons.
Cleaning and maintenance is the same for both Meridian and Olov – brush, rinse and lubricate.
Wet shaves are better in Meridian due to the grip level as well as the blade width. Olov’s less wide blades do compromise shaving efficiency both in dry and wet conditions.
After all the arguments for and against both of these good trimmers, Meridian does come out on top by a clear margin.
Then again, Olov is indeed a great choice because it can perform every necessary body grooming task at almost the halfway price point of Meridian.
About Olov
Olov doesn’t disclose much info about their organization, who the owner might be or where their headquarters are and there’s nothing about the brand other than the products in their official website.
I could only deduce that their factory is based in Switzerland and the brand solely focuses on body grooming kit development with a budget-friendly concern.
FAQ
This brief FAQ section will tell you a little bit more about Olov and grant you access to some of the unexplored territories of knowledge.
Q: Where is the Olov trimmer made?
Ans: Olov trimmers are manufactured in Switzerland in their own factory and distributed across the world from there. So if you were concerned whether it’s a cheap-end body trimmer from a random brand, trust me, it’s not.
Q: Is the Olov trimmer waterproof?
Ans: As I’ve mentioned, the Olov trimmer is waterproof. But I must add that it’s better to keep the waterproof feature into use only for cleaning purposes.
Q: Can the Olov trimmer be used for bikini trimming?
Ans: Yes! The white variant of the Olov trimmer is targeted for women (although with the same specifications) so that they realize the charm of this device in the bikini trimming department. Blades are kinder and the motor power is well-suited for delicate skins and generate the smoothest bikini trims in less than no time!
Concluding Remarks
Budget trimmers terrify me, I’m not going to lie. Because a lot of them seem so good for afar, but there’s no easy way of finding out their true nature without grinding them against your skin.
I’d say completing the Olov trimmer review has been a pleasant experience for me. It’s not one of those typical low-end body trimmers that look great but underperforms to a criminal level.
If I didn’t already have Manscaped or Meridian trimmers at my disposal, or were looking for a complete body grooming trimmer at a lower price, I’d definitely settle for the Olov trimmer.
So yes, I am indeed encouraging you to grab a hold of this trimmer – the build is great, design is eye-catching and performance is better than most manscaping trimmers under $50!
