My Verdict on Remington Balder Pro
Remington Balder Pro
Verdict
Remington Balder Pro is your ideal head shaver for regular bald head maintenance with comfort and convenience that’s more affordable than most premium devices in the market.
Unboxing the Remington Balder Pro
My unit of Remington Balder Pro arrived inside a radiating black and red paper box. Inside there’s a separate brown packaging that contains the shaver and its accessories.
Primarily, the Balder Pro is located inside a polythene pack sitting at the top, blades covered by a head guard.
Once it’s removed and the box undone, I found a 10 ml oil bottle, a tiny cleaning brush, Remington’s classic charging adapter and a premium carry pouch.

Design of the Balder Pro
Starting with the basics, the Balder Pro looks appealing out of the box! It feels good to hold on to the shaver, feels like a prized possession enough to be the reason of envy for other head shaving enthusiasts!
What I Like
- Smart, compact & ergonomic
- Rubber padding for added grip in both dry & wet
- Looks & feels premium
What I Don’t Like
- Can’t be held between fingers
Aesthetics
Remington has done a splendid job in the looks department! Five blades are built with silver-toned titanium foils placed over black plastic, accented with shiny silver all around the head.
This shiny silver has been carried on to the belly as well, allowing the placement of a premium and responsive power button, two LED indicators and the Remington branding.
Ergonomics
At first sight, you’ll clearly realize that the shaver is meant to be gripped with utmost comfort. The size allows for it as well as the highly textured rubber padding on either side.
Even your pointing finger has a resting place over the folded pop-up trimmer as it has horizontal textures made with rubber.
No matter how big or small your fingers are, due to its unique shape and all the ergonomic reinforcements, grip feels comfortable at every position and angle!
The only downside is that you can’t grip the shaver between your fingers, the way you could with a Skull Shaver Pitbull Gold or Silver shaver.
If that’s not your style, then no complaints at all. But if that is, remember that such a hold compromises the movement of the shaver head anyway, jeopardizing contour adaptation.
Smart Design
From a user’s point of view, the design feels perfect for home groomers! Power button is ideally placed and the LED indicators are visible while using it due to belly placement.
I mean, if you’re shaving and look at the shaver from underneath, you’ll be able to clearly notice if the low battery indicator is going off.
Also, while charging, the shaver lies on its back, plugs the power cable in at the feet of the shaver to allow you a full view of the charging icon.
Ideal rubber paddings, great placement of buttons and indicators suggest that the design team has indeed worked hard on it to make all of our money’s worth and the blade head as well as the design enhances this notion even further!
Build Quality
This shaver is a solid head shaving unit that in my opinion should last over 5 years without running into any issues and it has been the case for almost all the Remington units I’ve used or tested.
What I Like
- Made with durable materials
- 3 years warranty from Remington
- Automatic worldwide voltage
What I Don’t Like
- None that I can mention
The housing is built with durable materials and 1 meter drops haven’t caused any indent – although I’d strongly recommend against it.
If you shake the shaver, nothing inside moves around and grants the feeling of owning a solid device for your daily upkeep!
Blades are solidly built and never give off any cheap feeling – from the outlooks, quality of outcome and the overall experience.
Its neck feels solid yet flexible, foil adaptation and springiness is within control and the head comes on and off with a nice click, confirming the premium quality in developing this shaver!
Even Remington mentions this category in their packaging as a ‘durability guaranteed’ tag and aside from my experience, long-term users have confirmed that this claim to be true indeed!
Remington Balder Pro: Necessary Features Review
Reviewing the Remington Balder Pro features is very important to learn the true depths of its capabilities and potentials. Let’s see what our little friend is truly made of!
What I Like
- Ideal weight & grip for clean shaves
- Flexible head adapts to contour perfectly
- Cleaning & maintenance is easy
What I Don’t Like
- Battery life is disappointing
Very Lightweight
Balder Pro’s one of many positive aspects is its light weight that renders maneuverability a very convenient and effortless task!
Weighing in at only 6.6 ounces, this shaver belongs to the lighter category of weights among all the premium head shavers in the market.
It means, not only will your shaving task spare you any degree of fatigue, but also carrying it around while traveling is as easy as you’d like!
This is indeed admirable the quality of shaver Remington has conjured up with such little weight and sets a bar very high for other head shaver brands to follow.
5 Dual Track Blades for Shaving Efficiency
The standard head shaver blade numbers are usually between four to five. In my opinion, four blades are enough to get a nice, bald outcome but five also works to cut down on time a little bit.
Balder Pro has five blades, four in each direction and one standing in the middle of all. These blades are called ‘Dual Track’ because of the two rings of foil.
The outer ring contains thinner titanium while the inner ring titanium is thicker. This dual density ensures every type, texture and density of hair can be picked out effortlessly!
Also, the central blade functions as the overall guiding compass for pressure sensitivity. You’re supposed to press that blade against your scalp and the remaining blades will adapt accordingly.
This adaptation stretches up to around 1.5 mm which I think is a great flexibility to pick up hair from every extrusions and over the crevices at the nape.
Power Flex 360° Neck Adapts Perfectly
Well, the flexible neck on the Balder Pro is nothing extraordinary but manages to serve the purpose it was intended for.
This neck is covered by flexible folded rubber to allow motion in both horizontal and vertical alignment.
I reckon this agility alone wouldn’t have been something helpful unless the blades didn’t adapt to contour according to pressure.
These two adjustments complement each other and diversify the head shaving experience.
If you ask me, I’ll rank the movement somewhere between the Skull Shave head shavers and FlexSeries head shaver.
Maximum Portability
For a shaver to be portable, there needs to be a good battery life and carrying facilities to take it around anywhere you go.
In battery life’s case, the running duration has often been slightly disappointing – lasting between 20 to 25 minutes with a full charge.
Most of the head shavers I’ve used last longer than this one, so I’d say Balder Pro is a little underwhelming in this department.
But then again, all you need is 5 minutes with this for a clean shave, so one charge grants you between four to five full shaving sessions – can’t complain either.
And to carry it around as a traveling companion, the carry pouch coming inside the package is very handy!
It protects the shaver from damage and lets you store the charger as well. Carrying the charger is necessary because sadly, you can’t charge and shave at the same time.
The Automatic Worldwide Voltage is a great relief since it grants the ability to charge anywhere in the world, all thanks to the smart power adapter.
Safely Waterproof
Remington has classified it among the waterproof category of head shavers. This means you can not only shave your wet head but also wash the shaver head/blades without any fear.
It’s true that this waterproof nature has no IPX rating but I haven’t witnessed any sort of leak so far.
Be it rinsing under the tap or going inside the shower, Balder Pro manages to withstand all of it with grace and retain its waterproof nature successfully.
Two LED Indicators
There’s no digital LED panel on the shaver like Pitbull Gold Pro or a battery level with lights like the Silver Pro.
But you’ll find two LED icons right underneath the power button who inform you about three things:
- No Light: It means your shaver has sufficient charge to keep the portable operations running.
- Battery Light: This light tells you that your shaver is almost out of power and you need to charge it within 5 minutes.
- Charging Light: It indicates that your shaver is plugged into a power outlet and charging up.
These indicators are basic but helpful in many regards, so learning their meanings should help you in the long run.
My Experience with the Balder Pro
Photo: Balder Pro on the Box
How has my experience been so far with the Balder Pro? Is it worth the price? Will I recommend anyone to make a purchase? Check out my first-hand take on this fabulous device!
What I Like
- Great price to performance ratio
- No tug or pull experienced
- Outcome almost as clean as manual shaves
What I Don’t Like
- Works on 2-3 days stubble, longer hair will pull
Titanium Foils Ensure Comfort
First of all, I didn’t use it extensively on my head since I’m not always carrying a bald head around. My brother is one for clean shaves regularly and he was kind enough to volunteer in my assessment of the Balder Pro.
I must admit, he claims the Balder Pro to be the most kind on his scalp, up to the degree of comfort Pitbull Gold Pro has provided him (since that’s the shaver he uses frequently).
Since he has sensitive scalp skin, he was a little hesitant on putting it to test right out of the box. But after reconsidering his stance, I delicately cleaned up his head on one occasion and he self-shaved twice more within 10 days.
He did experience some pulls with hair growth over 3 days, but anything less than that works like a charm!
So for utmost comfort even on sensitive skins, Remington Balder Pro gets our green signal!
Shiny Shaves Each Time
Comfort isn’t the only necessary expectation from a good head shaver since the quality of the shave is equally important to call one great.
Upon close inspection, Balder Pro seems to remove hair neatly from the roots within minutes and there’s no tactile traction of hair growth felt immediately.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s no Pitbull Gold outcome but yet the results are remarkably close! This is the kind of outcome you’d get using a manual razor and uninvited razor burns.
Even at low battery, the motor doesn’t give in and it’s overall powerful enough to keep the blades running for efficient results.
I’d say it takes around 5-7 minutes, based on your skills, to clean up your entire head to the maximum degree.
Shower Shave Ready
Up until this point, I’ve been talking about dry shaves which the Balder Pro seems to excel at and without causing any discomfort.
However, wet shaves felt slightly more fluid and faster to glide over the scalp due to the shaving foam, gel or cream you use.
Only issue is you’ll need to rinse the shaving cream frequently so it’s better to situate yourself beside a tap or a basin filled with water.
Otherwise, standing inside the shower for this operation could spare you the pain and amp up your efficiency.
As the shaver is tested waterproof, I found the performance to be no different – no leak or giving in to heavy flows of water.
Some people find it convenient to go for dry shaves after a shower since the scalp remains moist and the hair damp.
But mind you, you’ll have to clean up after again because not all of the stray hair is picked up effectively despite the existence of the stray hair chamber.
Based on all of these factors, you can decide which method seems appealing to you.
Convenient Maintenance
Since the shaver head comes off completely and has a stray hair chamber underneath, cleaning this unit has turned out to be one of the most effortless tasks ever!
Cleaning is especially easy for the dry shaves. All you need to do is to remove the blade head, brush off the stray chamber, brush underneath the blades and voila!
As per wet shaves, it gets a little tricky to get everything out after shaving and you’ll need to rinse the shaver head vigorously for a residue-free result.
For both cases, it’s ideal to lube the motors and blades to keep them running without friction and retain sharpness for the longest possible time.
If you wash the blades, wait till it dries out before putting the lube in. Remington has provided a lube and a little brush to ensure these maintenance duties are in order.
Depending on your hair density, frequency of shaving and regularity of proper maintenance, one blade unit will last you at least 12 months. After that threshold, it’s ideal and healthy to replace the blade unit.
Is the Pop-up Trimmer Any Good?
In case you hadn’t noticed, there’s a pop-up trimmer folded and hidden away right behind the flex neck at the top side of the shaver.
It pops out if you slide the locking mechanism backward and lets you trim out tighter spots which a foil unit’s rotary motion might fail to pick up.
For most parts, it’s an okay addition, much like the ones you’d see in premium electric shavers. Obviously it’s not meant for mass hair removal, so don’t expect it to trim your entire head before a clean shaving session.
This trimmer turns on with the same power button that puts the shaver foil head into full motion. The angle this trimmer is extruded has sufficient clearance to remove smaller patches nicely.
Remington Balder Pro Experience Chart
Remington Balder Pro: Out of the Box Shaving Quality: Excellent
- Cleans out entire head perfectly with least amount of unshaved patches
- Feels comfortable due to the foil system, sharp blades and strong motor unit
- Waterproof quality has been confirmed and the grip is completely slip-free
Remington Balder Pro: After Two Weeks Use Shaving Quality: Still excellent
- Closeness and efficiency remains the same as it was completely new
- Comfort level doesn’t deteriorate and snubs 3 day stubbles with no tug, pull or burn
- No hint of leakage after thorough rinsing, full shower shave and gel usage
Who is the Balder Pro For?
This is an important question I need to address that’ll tell you if the Balder Pro is indeed the one head shaver you’ve been looking for and perfectly caters to your requirements.
First of all, the Balder Pro has almost every feature that the greatest head shavers are supposed to have and offers something even a little extra like a pop-up trimmer and a carry pouch.
I know there are certain limitations on the battery life or the post wet shave cleaning tasks, but these aren’t dealbreakers. 25 minutes of battery runtime is sufficient in my opinion and there’s really no point in having a shaver lasting hours with the help of a heavier battery that compromises maneuverability.
While wet shave cleanings are a little hectic, dry shave cleanings are almost equally effortless as all you need to do is to unhinge, dust off and store.
You have to consider the price point for the Balder Pro as it arrives almost halfway at the price of something like a Skull Shave Pitbull head shaver.
Outcomes are neat, experience is very comfortable, easy to operate and allows grip levels better than most other head shavers in the market!
So in the budget end, if you want the best treatment for your head and a hassle free responsibility for a head shaver, I’d say Remington Balder Pro is unmatched by any other device in the market!
Remington Balder Pro: How to Use at Home?
It’s not rocket science to use a head shaver at home and Balder Pro it seems is much easier to use than most other head shavers on the market.
There are a few steps you can follow to render your head shaves effortless, comfortable and deliver the best results and I’ll describe these steps for you briefly.
- Start with a 3-Day Stubble
This is indeed essential because picking any length over this can hurt you a little and compromise the shaving efficiency as well as outcome. If you have hair longer than this, get yourself a zero trim with a good clipper or trimmer to begin with.
- Dampen the Hair (for dry shave)
If dry shaves are your preference, you can directly dive into action with your shaver. But if your skin is sensitive, I’d suggest you to dampen the hair slightly for a finer experience.
- Apply Shaving Gel/Foam/Lotion (for wet shave)
For wet shaves, apply shaving gel/foam/lotion according to your preference. You can run this operation during the shower as well to remove the cleaning hassle and cut down on shaving time.
- Pick a Section and Press the Shaver against Scalp
Divide your head in four to five sections and begin with one of them. It keeps track of your shaving procedure and ensures you’ve covered your entire head without leaving behind any hair. Start by pressing the shaver against your scalp – hard enough to get a close shave but not too hard that agitates your skin.
- Rotate in a Clock or Counter-Clock Motion
Like any other foil shavers, this head shaver too needs to be glided in a circular motion instead of holding in the same place or moving in a linear path. The circular motion allows the foil units to pick up hair and the sharp blades get the job done for you neatly. It usually doesn’t require more than a few passes to clean out a particular area.
- Clean One Section and Move to the Next
Once one of your designated sections is done, move on to the next section and keep repeating until you’ve covered your entire head with this rotating glides motion. Since Balder Pro’s head is adaptive, you can easily glide over the contours and the shaver should do the rest!
- Check for Unshaved Patches
Upon covering your entire head, use your fingers to check for unshaved patches. You can run your thumb against the grains for a better assessment.
- Use the Pop-up Trimmer if Needed
If you feel that some of the crevices on your head can’t be reached due to the bulkiness of the shaver’s head, pop out the built-in trimmer to cover those areas. Also, you can use the trimmer around moles or any other extrusions that can be painful to glide the foil unit over.
- Clean Your Head & Shaver
Right after the shave, wash your scalp as well as the shaver unit to complete the shaving procedure. It’s essential to follow the shaver’s upkeep soon after to keep it running and your scalp healthy.
- Apply Aftershave Lotion (non-alcoholic)
Finally, apply some aftershave lotion that isn’t alcohol based. If you shave inside the shower, you can apply this afterward. Non-alcoholic aftershaves don’t dry out your skin and ease if there’s any razor burn.
You can also try natural ingredients like olive oil or aloe vera gel to ensure the smoothness and shininess of your bald scalp!

If you want to assess the greatness of a head shaver, they say these days you have to measure it against Skull Shaver Pitbulls to know their worth.
Well, I don’t want to keep my readers guessing any longer and present a battle between Remington Balder Pro vs Skull Shaver Pitbull Gold PRO and see who comes out on top!
Neck Flexibility
Both of these shavers contain advanced technology in their necks that make contour adaptation a highly effective operation as opposed to most other head shavers in the market.
While Balder Pro has Power Flex 360° Neck, Skull Shaver Pitbull Gold PRO endorses a 4-Direction Floating Heads. I’d say both are quite similar in sensation and outcome, so the first head to head here is a tie!
Blade Type
We now arrive at the comparison of blades which is a highly important territory of debate between the greats!
Skull Shaver Pitbulls – both Gold and Silver PRO use a 4 Foil Blade System that are interchangeable and highly efficient on hair removal.
Remington Balder Pro on the other hand makes use of a 5 Dual Track blade system. While in sheer number the Balder Pro blades seem ahead, in reality the Skull Shaver Pitbull blades have that little edge due to their extensive flexibility and closeness of shave while granting comfort!
Battery Life
This is a front where Balder Pro never really arrived for a battle since their juice lasts only for around 20/25 minutes.
Skull Shaver Pitbull Gold PRO has an astounding runtime of 40 minutes with a full charge – the highest duration of any foil head shaver you’ll find within that price range!
So despite lasting almost half the duration, you have to concede that Balder Pro comes at half of Pitbull Gold PRO’s price as well and that’s definitely worth considering!
LED Indicator
Remington Balder Pro has two basic LED indicators set as icons to warn you about low battery and show you the device is charging.
Pitbull Gold PRO is highly advanced in this case with its luxurious LED display that showcases the battery level with numeric values at precise level!
So there’s no guessing around whether you might have charge left or not and thus Skull Shaver defeats Remington in this front fair and square!
Ergonomics
Now comes a big surprise for many regarding two competitors – Remington Balder Pro being the underdog due to the price point while the Skull Shaver Pitbull, perceived as one of the bests of all time.
The surprising factor is in the ergonomic department where Balder Pro thrashes Pitbull with their tactile, rubber-textured ergonomics that do a better job at ensuring grip, be that dry or wet.
I have to concede that you can hold the Pitbull shavers between your fingers for a firmer grip, but that compromises the flexibility of the neck and can end up causing razor burns.
However, all things considered, my opinion does hold Skull Shaver Pitbull as one of the top dogs to beat as Remington Balder Pro falls a little way behind in competition.
But at the same time their price gap is a huge aspect of consideration. The ability to buy a head shaver almost half the price of a Skull Shaver with the ability to go neck-to-neck is definitely praiseworthy.
If you want to invest in the most premium head shaver, then be my guest and grab a Skull Shaver any day.
But if you want similar quality with significantly less price, then I don’t see any way you can avoid the Remington Balder Pro!
FAQ
Let’s answer a few unanswered questions on Remington Balder Pro to equip you with specialized knowledge about this amazing head shaver!
Q: What is the difference between the Remington Balder Pro and the RX7?
A: Balder Pro is a slightly older version of head shaver from Remington while the RX7 is a relatively newer version. The latter has a better battery life, smart LED battery indicator and slightly higher performance overall.
Q: Is the Remington Balder Pro wet or dry?
A: Balder Pro is meant for both wet and dry head shaving. If you’re short on time, dry shaves grant you very close shaves in the least amount of time. For sensitive skins, I’d say take the path of wet shaves to minimize any risk of agitation post-shave.
Q: Can I use the Remington Balder Pro in the shower?
A: Yes! Remington Balder Pro is perfectly waterproof and is meant to be used inside the shower. No matter how heavy the downpour is, there’s no risk of leakage at any given angle.
My Verdict on Remington Balder Pro
Let’s keep my verdict short and simple. Remington Balder Pro has exceeded my expectations out of a head shaver and has the ability to make Skull Shaver Pitbull sweat.
It has many strong points like the ergonomics, a smart 5-blade design, contour adaptation, good motor power, shaving closeness and of course, absolute comfort.
On the other hand it has some drawbacks too. A below average battery life and cleaning up after a gel shave on the head aren’t two things of consumer desire.
But considering how much it’s worth, I can’t name any alternative at this price point that can beat Balder Pro and it has what it takes to become your permanent head shaver to be used daily.
